About PAVRtech

Rivals by birth. Partners by choice.

A Bruin and a Trojan who spent twenty years on opposite sides of the same problem, and decided to solve it together.

The rivalry story

In Los Angeles, UCLA and USC don’t really do friendly. The Bruins and the Trojans have spent close to a century trying to beat each other at everything from football to fundraising. Payal went to UCLA. Viral went to USC. So when they decided to build a company together, the handshake in the photo above was a bigger deal than it looks.

Their careers ran on parallel tracks. Viral was the engineer: machine learning at Yahoo, Google and Snapchat, where his team’s targeting systems drove billions of dollars in ad revenue, then fraud detection and user growth models at Monzo. Along the way he co-founded a startup and sold it in under two years.

Payal was the operator: products and programmes at Coca-Cola, Gillette, Warner Bros and Cornerstone OnDemand, where she was the person who had to justify every technology investment to the CFO. She then turned to climate, through UCLA, the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, Carbon13, Cleantech Open and the Carbon Literacy Project.

Between them they kept seeing the same gap. Midsize businesses were being sold AI by people who knew AI but not their industry, or advice by people who knew their industry but could not build. Big consultancies could do both, at a price no midsize business could justify.

PAVRtech is their answer. Every project pairs an industry expert who has run the operation with engineers who have shipped AI at scale. The name comes from the road: each agent we build is another stone laid on the path to your next win.

Who we work with

Midsize businesses, which for us means £5m to £500m in revenue, or 25 to 8,000 employees. They have real operational data and real chores, but no in-house AI team. Based in the UK, working with clients across the UK and Europe, and open to projects in the US.

Every engagement starts with a two-week Pinpoint Sprint: a fixed fee, credited in full if you go ahead with the build.

What we believe

  • Start with the chore, not the technology. If we can’t name the hours or the pounds, we don’t build it.
  • Working software beats slides. We show a prototype on your data before you commit to a build.
  • One number per project. Every engagement is measured against a KPI agreed in the first two weeks.
  • You own what we build. No black boxes and no lock-in. Your team can run it without us.
Rival universities. One team.
